On Drudge today there is a glowing piece about Obama and his wife and their valentines day events, and oh how great it is that they are a couple, etc...It's exasperating to me , not so much the way the media cover this man, but more so the way many people I know are just so willfully blind about the way he is covered.
Let's take two examples , one an "economic crisis" tantamount to the great depression, and a natural disaster affecting millions. In both cases, two different presidents were both on vacation with their families. In both cases the media coverage saturated both men. So what is the difference. Well, during Hurricane Katrina George Bush was pilloried by the press for his vacation. How dare he drive around his truck on his ranch while people are stranded in New Orleans. During the current recession Barrack Obama was pilloried by the press for heading to Chicago to sit around at home with his family. How dare he sit around the house while people are losing their jobs...
oh wait, that would have been in an objective journalistic world. Instead, the media is drooling over how much they love this man. But this should come as no surprise to anyone. The media has made no apologies for it's blatant Obama love in. What really gets to me, is the fact that none of my liberal friends can see this for what it is. I've had this conversation five times now in the last three days. Every liberal I talk to begins by saying how great it is that Obama spends time with his family. After I make my case that if it's ok for him to do it, why couldn't Bush. Stammering and stuttering always ensues.
What is it with this cult of Obama? There was a time when I had more respect for many of my liberal friends. I thought it was a fair argument to say that George Bush was out of touch because he was vacationing in Texas during hurricane Katrina. But now, when Barraack Obama does it, it's not only ok, it's a great thing. everytime time this happens, everytime that Barrack Obama gets a pass, my respect level drops, and the contempt rises. And I'm not the only person who feels this way. I wonder what it would take for liberals to finally see Obama for what he is...

People were dying during the New Orleans debacle. This event happened over an acute period of time and demanded immediate attention. During this period, Bush exhibited other behavior, aside from his vacationing, that showed he was out of touch--need I remind you about the "And you're doin' a heck of a job, Brownie" comment. This shows how out of touch he was on the issue.
This is in contrast to an economic crisis that will persist for quite some time, in large thanks to Republican incompetence during their time in the drivers seat. Do you actually recommend that Obama not spend any time with his family until this crisis ends? How many years would satisfy the Orcs in your party? It seems clear everyone that Obama is on the job and working to clean up this mess that he inherited--not playing guitar or celebrating John McCain's birthday party.
You sound like a sore loser. Loser.
An anonymous leftist calling me childish names...big shock there. Orcs in MY party...You've been watching too much Lord of the Rings man.
Blaming only Republicans for this mess is about as childish as calling me a loser. I think it's clear to anyone who thinks about it for a moment that our current conomic situation was bipartisan. It wasn't even all political. For almost two decades everyone, from businessman to politicians, promoted easy credit. The Federal Reserve kept interest rates way too low for too long of a time, while the Federal and State governments pushed houses on people who couldn't afford them. This collapse was inevitable and blaming Republicans is infantile. Do you give Republicans all the credit for the economic boom in the late 80's through the 90's. I doubt it.
Mike, you are speaking too much logic to this anonymous fool. Left wing zealots only care about EMOTION and how things make you feeeeeeellllll. Economics is a foreign concept and it will never be understood by someone who rely's on emotion for guidance and blames Bush for the world's woes.
The obviousness of people letting emotion guide people on this issue is so clear. You can see it eery where around the world. In the US, people blame Republicans because they have been in power for the last decade. People in the UK blame Labour because they've been in power the last decade. People in Japan blame the LDP because they have been in power...well forever. People in India are blaming the INC because they ahve been in power.
If it's the right who caused this problem in The US, does that also mean that the left caused it in the UK? Or in India? Or is it that people just want to blame the people in power?
